Photos are cruel

We live our lives trying to enjoy. Enjoy our childhood. Enjoy our work. Enjoy our families. We live life in such a way, that when the time comes we can say "tell them, I've had a good life" whatever has happened.

We take photos, videos and mental captures of our finest moments, frame them and look back on them. Very quaint.

Yet,  they just remind you of your past times and the mistake we commit is trying to embody ourselves in that very moment; when you're happiness overshadowed everything life had to throw at you. You try and fail, and merely want to go back to that period. We all do it, we tirelessly overuse "I wish" in our lives, and perhaps photos are the nail to (our) coffin.

They make us realise we're not eternal. Sure we could just go out and capture more memories, but there will be one day, where the leaves lay on the pavement, and we 'smile' at the photos infesting the mantel piece.

I look at the photos on my wall and, sure, I feel a little cold with happiness. But I am uncontrollably sad that, unlike the figures in the pictures, the people in them have moved on, leaving only their silhouette filling up the frame.

Just Enjoy Saving Silhouettes.

Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

A common debate among philosophers and philanthropists is whether a glass with water filling it half way is; half empty or half full? Suggesting it is half empty is deemed a pessimistic view, whilst half full suggests an optimistic view of life.

I don't think this really matters, your view on life should never really be objective or unwavering. It obviously depends on what happens in your life, changing with every direction your life takes.

Yet regardless of deciding the volume of the water, couldn't you be happy with the fact that you do have water. Your view on life should be dependent on the mere existence of the water. So that you will enjoy life and be thankful for everything.

I appreciate bad things in life will happen and it is almost rude to say "just enjoy life" but those bad things make you appreciate things in life.

You have the water, you have the ability to make the water fill up.

You have some water, rather than no water.

Fill the glass up.

Is Love created by the Universe?

If the title is a little confusing, it really means that can the universe, as an abstract concept, force love on between two people?

I was recently watching a favourite programme of mine, Grey's Anatomy. One episode saw two people, from totally different backgrounds, who took random steps in their life and eventually joined the same bowling club in one city. So the question I ask you, is love, fate? Can the universe really 'bring' two people together, as if there very purpose in life was to meet and to fall in love?

Destiny is also related here (and not about her child, no) as it can claim it was two people's destiny to meet and to fall in love. On a basic level, it seems quaint, but it is mixing the fundamentals of science and claiming the universe is intertwined with foreknowledge (knowing what is going to happen in the future). Which is totally impossible.

But then you hear stories of miraculous events that happen, step-by-step and eventually people are brought together, and then fall in love.

Maybe the game of life is love, and maybe the universe is the game master.
Maybe love is lost at sea and has to be found, maybe that's why they call it a relationship.
